Brendan Black

PT, DPT, CSCS

I grew up in Greenfield, Missouri, a small farming town. I grew up playing four sports (baseball, basketball, football, and track) but ultimately decided to pursue track and field in college. My history with sports and subsequent injuries led me to discover physical therapy. I got my undergraduate degree at the University of Central Missouri and my doctorate degree at Missouri State University. When I graduated from PT school, I moved to the Kansas City area to live with my wife, Shelby, though it was secretly to live closer to Arrowhead Stadium.

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
Certified in Dry Needling
Former LSVT-BIG certification for Parkinson’s Disease

Empathy – Quintessential for understanding the road that led a patient to PT
Kindness – Patients come to PT not only for the physical ailment. but the emotional aspect as well
Lightheartedness – Laughter and smiles are the second best medicine, behind actual medicine

“Well, there ain’t no point in crying about it”
-My father, in regards to shrugging off the things you can’t control and moving on

I bring a background in sports and functional rehabilitation, as well as specialties in strength and conditioning and dry needling to get patients back to their previous level of function and beyond; we are all athletes in our own right!

I pride myself on treating not only the physical ailments that patients are referred for but also understanding the emotional and social aspects of injuries.

I love the family atmosphere—every patient and therapist feel like they are more than just a number or a cog in the machine. When you step through the door, you are always greeted with a smile and feel as though you are truly cared about.

What’s Brendan Reading, Listening To, or Watching?

  • King of the Hill

I enjoy going to Chiefs games, working out, vacationing with my wife and dog, hiking, and enjoying the great outdoors.

“I have been coming to Hill Pro-Motion for several weeks now. My Physical Therapist is Dr Brooke Douglas. I liked Brooke from the start. She is a straight forward person who says exactly what she expects of her client. She is attentive to her clients, very supportive and encouraging.”

“I had the pleasure of working with Brendan after my ACL surgery. His keen knowledge led me to an expedited recovery that exceed the timeline most medical professionals had informed me of in regards to returning to high intensity activities. His skill sets aided me to feel the upmost confidence in returning to the things I love such as weight lifting, soccer, and some I don’t (running). I highly recommend seeing Brendan for any physical therapy requirements – I can’t thank him enough!”

“Everyone at Hill Pro-Motion are awesome. Brendan was the best, after a few sessions he was able to pin-point the main issue with my hip and started increasing my stretches to strengthen my core and hip muscles. I would definitely go back.”
