Amanda McCurry, PTA, ATRI

Amanda is originally from the small town of Brookfield, MO. She is 1 of 5 children, and always took an interest in the healthcare profession. Amanda realized physical therapy was the route she wanted to take when her youngest sister, Olivia, was born with Down syndrome. She was eager to learn all the gross motor skills to help Olivia in rolling over, crawling, and walking.

Amanda graduated from MO Western State University in St. Joseph, MO in 2004 with her A.A.S. as a Physical Therapist Assistant. While working part-time as a P.T.A, she finished her B.S. in General Psychology at MO Western in 2006, as well.

Amanda has been a Physical Therapist Assistant for over 14 years, and 8 of those she has been traveling the country as a contract therapist. While traveling she not only enjoyed living in FL, TX, OR, CO and Hawaii but learned and worked with a variety of therapists whom have contributed their skills and methods to her. She gained experience in home health, pediatrics, geriatrics, inpatient/outpatient rehab, skilled nursing/assisted living, sports rehab, acute care, and aquatic settings. She has advanced her specialty in aquatic therapy by achieving her certification from Aquatic Therapy and Rehab Institutes, ATRI.

Although Amanda enjoyed her time traveling, she is just as excited to be “home” in Kansas City. She is glad to be near her family again and put down some roots. She is excited to be working in an outpatient setting where she will assist with aquatic therapy.
