Parkinson’s Disease in Lee’s Summit

Parkinson’s Disease is a progressive disease that affects the central nervous system and the ability to coordinate movement in the body. Since Parkinson’s Disease affects many areas of the brain, symptoms can vary in individuals and progression can be either mild, moderate or aggressive. Parkinson’s Disease typically affects one’s ability to walk with slower movements (bradykinesia) and difficulty with starting or stopping walking. In addition, movements tend to become slower along with tremors that may occur in the hands. Muscles can become quite rigid, leading to loss of motion and poor posture. A dangerous symptom is called retropulsion, where the tendency of an individual is to fall backwards with little to no ability to protect oneself.

Speech can also be affected with Parkinson’s Disease becoming slurred and slow due to poor activation of the mouth, tongue and throat muscles. In addition, eating and drinking can become challenging due to difficulty with swallowing. Symptoms may also include difficulty with writing, becoming illegible or very small.

My entire family has been treated by the team at Hill Pro-Motion over the last few years. We have found them to be compassionate, talented and conscientious about being on time but not rushing through anything.  I would give them 10 Stars if I could.  We have been treated  for chronic back pain, injuries, post surgery,  both chronic and acute situations.  Although we each came with referrals from different doctors they listened to our symptoms and complaints and then examined us and then came up with a treatment plan to address all of our needs.  I felt part of my diagnosis was incorrect and I told Zac what I felt was going on and he told me they would work on treating what I thought was wrong along with my other issues.  In just a couple of treatments I could see real improvement and was eventually pain free.  My 88 year old father had been treated elsewhere for knee problems and didn’t seem to be improving.  I had him transfer to see Zac for a new evaluation and treatment and he quickly began to see improvement.  There are lots of choices for physical therapy around town but no one else is more professional yet personable or holds themselves to a higher level of treatment with expectation of patient improvement.  I wholeheartedly recommend the folks at Hill Pro-Motion Physical Therapy.

I have a chronic health condition that impacts my daily life and I have worked with several physical therapists before with little results. Hill Pro-Motion is just different. I already feel stronger and have a hope for the future like I haven’t in a long time. Thank you Hill Pro-Motion!
